Color Balancing Histology Images for Presentations and Publication

نویسنده

چکیده

Many histology micrographs with poor color contrast are published in scientific journals. Such images are difficult for readers to interpret and may mask the scientific data in the image. Given the cost of publishing color pages coupled with the ease with which images can be acquired with correct colors or color balanced with digital imaging software, there is no reason for authors, editors, reviewers, or readers to accept poor-quality images. We show examples of defective images and illustrate corrective measures using ergonomic light microscopy, Adobe® Photoshop®, and Reindeer Graphics Fovea Pro®. Similar image corrections can be performed in many scientific image analysis software programs as well as in the freeware NIH ImageJ. Current Rates of Publication for Podium and Poster Presentations at the American Society for Surgery of the Hand Annual Meetings

Background:  Research projects are presented at the Annual Meetings of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH). It is unknown how many achieve publication in peer-reviewed journals. We sought to determine current rates of publication of podium and poster presentations.   Methods:  All ASSH podium and poster presentations from 2000 to 2005 were reviewed, and an Internet-based search ...

Problems in publishing accurate color in IEEE journals

To demonstrate the performance of color image processing algorithms, it is desirable to be able to accurately display color images in archival publications. In poster presentations, the authors have substantial control of the printing process, although little control of the illumination. For journal publication, the authors must rely on professional intermediaries (printers) to accurately repro...

Color scene transform between images using Rosenfeld-Kak histogram matching method

In digital color imaging, it is of interest to transform the color scene of an image to the other. Some attempts have been done in this case using, for example, lαβ color space, principal component analysis and recently histogram rescaling method. In this research, a novel method is proposed based on the Resenfeld and Kak histogram matching algorithm. It is suggested that to transform the color...

Multiple Auto-Adapting Color Balancing for Large Number of Images

This paper presents a powerful technology of color balance between images. It does not only work for small number of images but also work for unlimited large number of images. Multiple adaptive methods are used. To obtain color seamless mosaic dataset, local color is adjusted adaptively towards the target color. Local statistics of the source images are computed based on the so-called adaptive ...
